Cabbage Soup

Cabbage soup is a soup that I make in the fall and winter months. I was googling different recipes to try something different and found out that cabbage soup can also be used for weight lose. Hmmm I will have to try that and blog about it. Here is my version of cabbage soup.



Cabbage Soup


½ head of cabbage

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup celery

1 cup white onions

1 cup carrots

½ green pepper

2 gloves of garlic

4 cups chicken broth

2 cubed russet potatoes

1 can of Margaret Holmes Tomatoes, Okra &Corn

1 teaspoon oregano

2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon of basil

Salt & Pepper to taste



  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large soup pot over medium heat
  2. Add celery, onions, carrots and green peppers sauté until tender
  3. Then add the garlic stir until fragrant
  4. Pour in your broth
  5. Then add potatoes and can of tomatoes, okra & corn and your seasoning
  6. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to simmer
